All patients and the medical staff of
Pudukkudyirippu Government Hospital have now
been shifted to a safer location north of
Pudukkudyrippu through the mediation of ICRC.
According to Ministry of Healthcare and
Nutrition there are now no hospitals
functioning in uncleared areas in Vanni.
In a letter addressed to ICRC Head of
Mission in Colombo, the Secretary to the
Ministry requested ICRC to transfer these
patients and medical staff to District
General Hospital in Vavuniya without keeping
them any further at Puthumattalam.
The Government and the security forces have
made safe passage available for such
transfer and the Government would take every
effort to assure the patients so
transferred, the best possible care
available within the facilities available at
Vavuniya.
