You made Sri Lanka proud - President to Murali

President Mahinda Rajapaksa today sent a message of congratulations to Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan on his capturing 503 wickets in One Day International, reaching the world record for the highest number of ODI wickets.

The President's message said that Muttiah Muralitharan made Sri Lanka proud in bowling as the reigning champion in both Test and ODI cricket.

Murali surpassed former Pakistan paceman Wasim Akram’s ODI mark of 502 wickets during the match against India at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

He is already the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket with 769 scalps.
