Nepal, Sri Lanka sign two agreements

 

Sri Lanka and Nepal today signed two agreements on air service from Kathmandu to Colombo and on forming a ministerial level joint mechanism.

President Maninda Rajapaksa and Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal signed the agreements during their meeting today.
During the meeting, they also signed an agreement to form a foreign ministerial level mechanism to create an environment of cooperation between the two regional neighbouring countries.

As per the agreement, the Joint Commission will be meeting annually for exchanging political and financial support, besides boosting exchange of cooperation in other major areas such as education and culture.

President Rajapaksa also unveiled Sri Lanka’s plans to construct a Buddhist monastery in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

Earlier today, President Rajapaksa visited Anandakuti Bihar at Swoyambhu in the capital.
