The ship ‘Bin Tan’ which carrying food, medicines and other essential cargo to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Mullaitivu. came under heavy LTTE artillery attack while it was unloading in Puthumatalan this morning.The vessel was taken beyond range of fire by the commander of the vessel, the army spokesman said.

This vessel carried out 500 metric tons of foods for IDPs in Mullaitivu. The ship had reached Putumatalan around 7.30am yesterday (08) and had unloaded 142 metric tons. The unprovoked attack has compelled the ship to penetrate further into the deep seas where the bad weather conditions have further aggravated the situation.
