SLAF: Distinction in air power and defence

 

Through its 58 years the Sri Lanka Air Force has shown distinction in air power, defense capabilities, and humanitarian assistance, earning it the deep gratitude and respect of the nation, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa in a message to mark the 58th Anniversary and Awarding of the President’s Colours to the Air Force last Saturday( March 07)

“I share the pride of the nation in the decisive role of the Sri Lanka Air Force in conducting the humanitarian operations aimed at eliminating terrorism from the country, and commend the high degree of professionalism, valour and dedication showed by all ranks and others of the Air Force in this work.” The President said.
 


Here is the text of the President’s message:

I am pleased to extend my warmest felicitations to the Sri Lanka Air Force on the occasion of the 58th Anniversary of its founding, and at a time when it is engaged in noble and invaluable service to the country.

I note the remarkable development of the Sri Lanka Air Force through the past 57 years reaching admirable heights in technology, training and accomplishment making it the truly professional air arm of the country.

I share the pride of the nation in the decisive role of the Sri Lanka Air Force in conducting the humanitarian operations aimed at eliminating terrorism from the country, and commend the high degree of professionalism, valour and dedication showed by all ranks and others of the Air Force in this work.

The progress of the Sri Lanka Air Force through these years has shown distinction not only in terms of air power and defense capabilities, but also in rapid reaction to render critical humanitarian aid and assistance in times of crisis. All of this, in the midst of many constraints, makes the Air Force an institution rich in experience professionalism and human resources, earning it the deep gratitude and respect of the nation.

I take this occasion to congratulate the Commander, Officers, all other ranks and civilian employees of the Sri Lanka Air Force for their tremendous contribution to safeguard the freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka. I recall with deep gratitude every member of the Air Force who has paid the supreme sacrifice on behalf of the motherland.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to all members of the Air Force and their families for the commitment to the noble duty of safeguarding our motherland. May the Sri Lanka Air Force reach further heights of achievement in the service of the nation.
