The texts of the two messages of condemnation follow:

Switzerland

The Government and the People of Switzerland are deeply shocked by the appalling terrorist attack that was perpetrated in Akuressa, in the Matara District, taking lives of many innocent people and leaving many others injured, including members of the Government.

Switzerland strongly condemns all terrorist attacks and trusts that those responsible for this atrocity will be brought to justice.

On behalf of the Swiss Federal council, I extend my sincere condolences to Your Excellency and the Government of Sri Lanka and my heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of the victims. My best wishes for a full and rapid recovery go to those who were injured on this tragic occasion.

Micheline Calmy-Rey

France

France strongly condemns this abominable attack which has caused the death of 10 persons and injured 35. It conveys its condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and its support to the authorities and people of Sri Lanka on this occasion.
