Minister seeks protection for Ranil

 
Jagath Pushpakumara Minister of Nation Building requested the Speaker this morning to provide protection to Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe as there were serious threats of assault within the premises of Parliament.

This followed strong opposition with threats of possible attack on Ranil Wickremasinghe at a meeting of UNP Parliamentary Group now on at the Committee Room at the Parliament.

Minister Pushpakumara said irrespective of any party differences, rights of the Opposition Leader to be protected and not be obstructed from entering the Parliament under the Standing Orders of the Parliament.
