President orders to suspend Rubella immunization programme

 
President Mahinda Rajapaksa ordered to suspend the Rubella immunization programme immediately following the death of one school girl in Matara today. Twenty six more students fell ill due to a complication caused by vaccination given against Rubella.

President Rajapaksa also called for an immediate investigation into the death of the school girl and to find those responsible. He directed the relevant authorities to pay Rs. 500,000 as compensation to the parents.
