Rs.100-cr. as humanitarian relief from India

The Indian government announced to donate Rs.100 cr. for providing humanitarian relief to civilians being evacuated from the LTTE grip in northern Sri Lanka.

It welcomed government’s announcement that combat operations had reached their conclusion and no heavy weapons would be used.

“This is an important first step in addressing concerns for the safety and security of Tamil civilians and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) trapped in the conflict zone,” External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said.
