A pro-LTTE group, supportive of the LTTE’s
international terror campaign, attacked the
Sri Lanka Embassy in The Hague, the capital
of the Netherlands 11th May, at around
10.30.p.m. The Embassy said the attackers
broke some window panes and caused damage to
the Embassy premises. They then attempted to
break into the Embassy premises without
success. They had to leave without causing
further damage, as the security alarm had
gone off and the Police responded
immediately.
The Sri Lanka Embassy has made
representations to the Dutch Foreign
Ministry condemning the attack and requested
the Dutch Government to tighten the security
of the Mission and ensure the safety of its
staff.
It has called for a thorough
investigation into the attack, and also for
the perpetrators to be apprehended and
brought to justice. The Police have taken
fingerprints and recorded statements, as
part of the ongoing investigation.
