Bodies of Charles Anthony and three top LTTE
leaders found |

Sri Lanka Army special forces troops have
found a body suspected to be of Charles
Anthony and another three bodies of key LTTE
leaders identified as Nadeshan, Pulidevan
and Ramesh, during the mop up operations in
the last LTTE foothold, Karayamullavaikkal
area this morning, May 18.
Charles Anthony, the elder son of LTTE
leader V.Prabhakaran was known to be the
head of Information and Technology Section
of the LTTE. Nadeshan, a former constable of
Sri Lanka Police was considered head of the
political wing of the terrorist outfit.
Pulidevan was known as the head of "LTTE
Peace Secretariat", while Ramesh was one of
the most senior special military leaders of
the LTTE.
Latest battlefield reports said, Army elites
are continuing final mop-up operations at
the last 100 sq. m LTTE foothold, North of
Vellamullivaikkal, with all civilians given
refuge outside the area in government held
territory.
With the LTTE being militarily defeated, the
Minister for Human Rights Mahinda
Samarasimghe, told a media briefing Sunday
17,that the Government had proved wrong the
repeated statements and warnings by
international organizations, some national
leaders and sections of the international
media, as well as some UN personnel, about
the danger of an "imminent bloodbath" in the
north of Sri Lanka, in attempts by troops to
carry out the largest hostage rescue
operation known in modern times.
As at last evening more than 251,000 Tamil
civilians had come into government held
areas, after being freed from being held
hostage by the LTTE.
