Prabhakaran believed killed in bid to flee
troops

Defense sources say that the bodies of LTTE
leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and the
Intelligence Wing Leader Pottu Amman are
among those killed while trying to flee the
advancing troops.
Troops of 53 and 58 divisions and Army
Commandos carrying out mopping up operations
in Karayamullavaikkal area this morning, May
18, foiled an attempt mounted by the LTTE to
evacuate the last of its leading cadres left
in the area.

Prabhakaran was known to be the head of
LTTE’s “Air Arm” and Information and
Technology Section, who was considered the
most probable successor to Prabakaran was
among those killed in these operations. He
was named after the closest friend of
Prabhakaran who led the first suicide attack
on Sri Lankan troops in the North in July
1983.
Other key LTTE figures identified as killed
are Nadeshan, a former constable of Sri
Lanka Police was considered head of the
political wing of the terrorist outfit.
Pulidevan was known as the head of "LTTE
Peace Secretariat", while Ramesh was one of
the most senior special military leaders of
the LTTE.
Latest battlefield reports said, troops are
continuing final mop-up operations in tiny
pockets, North of Vellamullivaikkal.
