Sri Lanka - Australia agreed on combating Transnational Crime

 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sri Lanka Police and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) on combating Transnational Crime including Terrorist Offences and Developing Police Co-operation was signed recently in Colombo.

Recognizing the need to strengthen international law enforcement cooperation at all levels in combating transnational crime including terrorism in a comprehensive manner, both countries, inked the MoU,the Daily News reported today (25).

Major issues under the MoU are Terrorism and all forms of illegal activities leading to terrorism, illicit drug and people trafficking, transnational sex offences, cyber crime, money laundering, transnational economic crime and asset tracing, identity fraud, illegal firearms trafficking, and piracy, kidnapping and other issues as mutually determined by both participants.
