Rs.14000m boost for Rural Development

The government has allocated Rs.14000 million for rural development under the ‘Gama Neguma’ (Developing the Village) programme, launched by the Nation Building and Infrastructure Development Ministry.

The Programme will cover 14,034 Grama Niladhari divisions in three stages. The country has been divided into six zones for the implementation of the project, done in keeping with the Mahinda Chinthana manifesto.

The Gama Naguma programme is implemented with the objective of creating sustained national development by helping to produce prosperous villages, a complex process needing the collective support of all.
