The Secretary of National Defence of Philippines, Gilberto C Teodoro and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, George Yeo ,congratulated the Sri Lankan Government on the military defeat of the LTTE at a meeting on the sidelines of the 8th Shangri – La Dialogue held in Singapore last week.

The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister briefed the Secretary of National Defence of Philippines and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore with regard to the counter -terrorism operations conducted by the security forces and added that with the top hierarchy of the LTTE been removed, the Government will now have a wider integration and political exclusivity as well as re - establishment of law and order nationwide, states a Media Release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Colombo.

He also spoke of the current status of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the 180 day programme the Government has launched for the rehabilitation and resettlement of the IDPs.
