Government removes fishing restrictions in North

The government has decided to remove fishing restrictions in the north to increase production and marketing, said Senior Advisor to the President and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Resettlement Development and Security in the Northern Province Basil Rajapaksa in a meeting with the fishing community at the Karainagar Naval Camp on Friday.

The prohibition enforced on outboard motors of vessels too had been lifted by the Government, he said.

Following the decision by the Government to lift fishing restrictions in the North they are now able to engage in their daily work in 24 hours of the day. Fishing community got this opportunity after 30 years.
