Uva polls on August 8

 
The Uva Provincial Council election will be held on August 8, the Election Secretariat said.

According to the schedule the accepting of the nominations for the Uva PC polls closed this afternoon.

There are 875,456 registered voters in the Uva Provincial Council elections and 574,814 voters are eligible to vote for the Badulla District and 300,642 for the Monaragala District.

The election will held to elect 32 members to the council and it is expected to elect 21 members to the Badulla district and 11 for the Monaragala district.
