IDP students facilitated for exams

The Examination Department has started a streamlined process to facilitate the students who are in IDP Transitional Camps in Vavuniya, facing the upcoming G.C.E. A/L (Advanced Level), G.C.E.O/L (Ordinary Level) and Year Five Scholarship examinations.

The Department of Examination distributed several educational materials including past examination papers and model answer sheets containing guidelines among students to prepare for the examinations, said Commissioner General of Examinations, Anura Edirisinghe.

In addition to that, special classes for the students are being held in the camps in Kadiragamar Relief Village to cover the syllabus of examinations, he added.

A new temporary identity card that can be produced at the A/L examination will be introduced to the candidates in these relief villages with immediate effect, the Commissioner General further said.

A total number of 750 students, housed in these Transitional Camps are to face this year’s G.C.E. A/L, while around 5000 students are standing at year 5 examination.

The Government is paying priority in re-establishing the education of the students in these camps providing them other basic needs such as shelter, sanitary facilities, and medicine.
