President Mahinda Rajapaksa has congratulated Professor Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology, St. George’s University of London on being conferred a Knighthood by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in her annual Birthday Honors List this year.

The President’s letter of congratulation to Professor Arulkumaran states;

“I was very pleased to learn that her Majesty the Queen had, in her Birthday Honors List conferred a Knighthood in recognition of your vast contribution to Medicine and for being one of the most erudite medical professionals in the United Kingdom.

“Given your Sri Lankan roots we can also take pride in your achievement. You have brought honor and credit not only to the medical profession but also to Sri Lanka, the land of your birth where you began your academic and professional career.

I congratulate you on this significant achievement, and extend my best wishes for your success and continued service to mankind.”
