Plantation workers a vital part of Sri Lankan economy - President

The Up-country plantation workers are a vital part of Sri Lankan workforce. They make an immense contribution for the economy. Our government treats all equally whether one lives in plantations, villages or cities. We have given considerable benefits to the plantation workers in view of the great contribution they make, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing Up-country plantation workers in Badulla, yesterday, July 26.

The Up-country plantation workers, who were earlier used by politicians for their needs, have now been provided many facilities under this government. Therefore they have united with us to fulfill the needs of plantation sector, he added.

“This government is serving everyone with equality. Even though we live in different parts of the country we all are the same.

Hereafter there are no minority communities. There is no opposition group in the Up-country. We all are leading to the same goal. So let’s unite to carry on our duties by our country”, the President further said.
