More facilities to resettle IDPs

 

Government has provided funds and vehicles to facilitate the well being of thousands of people who fled due to terrorist attacks in the Weli-Oya–Padaviya Sector when they are resettled before end August, official sources said.

Senior Presidential Advisor and Head of the Presidential Task Force on Resettlement, Development and Security of the North and the East MP Basil Rajapaksa directed official to provide a sum of Rs.50 million for the development of internal roads in the Padaviya area, Rs.100 million to reconstruct the Parakramapura –Kokkuthuduwai road and another Rs.100 million for the reconstruction of roads in Athawetunawewa and Wedhaturna.

It was decided to grant each resettled family Rs.25000 along with roofing sheets, kitchen utensils, agricultural implements and dry rations sufficient for six months.

Rs.2 million has been allocated for repairs to Sampathnuwara Rural Hospital and an ambulance, too, was gifted to the Hospital.

Two new SLTB buses were to be deployed to operate a bus service between Kebetigollawa and Kalyanapura through Janakapura.
