Air travel facilities for Nallur pilgrims

The Ministry of Tourism has made arrangements to provide air travel facilities for pilgrims to the annual Nallur Kandasamy Kovil festival in Jaffna which began on July 27 and continue till 19 August with thousands of devotees flocking daily to the venue.

The ministry has joined hands with 'Heli Tours' of the Sri Lanka Air Force; travel Commercial Division to provide the air facility. The Heli Tours offers tickets at Rs.19100 and the flights are scheduled to fly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the week.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board has also deployed additional buses for the pilgrims, as this year's festival has so far recorded the attendance of the highest number of devotees, after peace has been restored in the North.

The Hindus who were unable to exercise their religious rights for several decades due to terrorism, are flocking to the historic Nallur Kandasamy Kovil for worship.
