Cabinet granted approval to introduce e-learning and ICT capacity building in Pirivena Education at a cost of USD 10 million utilizing funds received from the Chinese Government.

The purpose of this is to develop competencies in these areas as they are crucial for obtaining knowledge and skills in contemporary education, irrespective of whether they are bhikku or lay students.

The Government has declared 2009 as the ‘Year of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and English’.
