The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) has raised Malaysian Ringgit 12000 to assist IDPs in Sri Lanka during the second phase of their fund raising campaign.

The funds will be utilised for long-term projects such as enhancement of the education of children who had been orphaned due to the terrorism, GOPIO International Coordinator Selvarajoo Sundram had said at a Charity Dinner with Community Development and Social Inequity Eradication Minister, Sri Lanka P. Chandrasekeran in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Mr. Sundram had further stated that his organization has agreed to a request made by Malaysian Entrepreneurs for an organised group to visit Sri Lanka in future to discuss investments and identify initially viable economic development projects which will assist development of Sri Lanka.
