The
“Shilpa
Sri
Lanka-2009”,
a
ten-day
exhibition
showcasing
traditional
art and
modern
handicrafts
that are
symbolic
of Sri
Lanka’s
scenic
beauty
and its
multi-ethnic
and
multi-cultural
diversity
is now
at Dilli
Haat in
India.
The
show is
being
hosted
by the
National
Crafts
Council
of Sri
Lanka in
association
with the
Sri
Lankan
High
Commission
in
India,
the Sri
Lanka
Tourism
Promotion
Bureau
and the
Office
of the
Development
Commissioner
(Handicrafts)
of the
Government
of
India.
It is
being
attended
by 19
award-winning
crafts-persons
from Sri
Lanka.
Their
creations
include
lacquer
ware,
wood
carvings,
masks,
hand-made
wooden
toys,
reed and
rush
products,
cane
products,
lace
products,
batik,
ceramic,
stoneware,
velvet,
paintings,
jewellery
and
hand-made
paper
products.
The
exhibition
was
inaugurated
on
Wednesday
by the
Development
Commissioner
(Handicrafts),
Government
of
India,
Sanjay
Agarwal,
and the
Acting
High
Commissioner
of Sri
Lanka in
India,
Palitha
Ganegoda.
