‘Tri-Star’ branch to North

As approved by the Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment (BOI), Tri-Star Apparel Exports (Pvt.) Limited goes to Northern Province of the country to open up a new plant which would create around 1000 direct employment opportunities.

Tri-Star is opening up a new plant at Tambalagamuwa in Trincomalee district this weekend. The opening of this new branch has hired 1000 employees from the youth in the area while another 1200 youth are provided a comprehensive training in the plant, said the Chairman, Tri-Star Apparel Exports (Pvt.) Limited, Mr. Kumar Dewapura.

The plant will be producing baby-wear items which are not hit by the global economic recession. The products at new plant mainly target the markets of UK and USA.

Tri-Star garments, one of Sri Lanka’s largest exporters of ethically sourced, global brands of clothing, began its journey in 1979. At present it has an annual turnover of USD 36 million. It currently employs over 10,000 skilled workers in its island-wide garments factory network and produces two million pieces monthly.
