Flow of foreign investment

 

The BOI signed agreements for five ventures involving investment worth US $ 11.75 million from five companies in Korea, Australia and the United States.

The agreements are for the manufacture of aluminium extrusions for the local market, trading electronic and apparel products to worldwide markets, modernize the existing tea production, online solution to mange media content on social networking tools and trading fast moving food and personal Care Products to markets in US.

An investment agreement worth US $ 10.93 million was signed with Ceykor Aluminium Industries (Private) Limited to manufacture aluminium extrusions for the local market. The joint venture between Sri Lanka and Korea is expected to create employment for an initial workforce of 70.

Perstaff Holdings signed an agreement to set up an Export Trading House at Katunayake. The trading house is a joint venture between Sri Lankan and Australian investors for an initial investment of US $ 215,000. The venture will be engaged in trading electronic and apparel products to worldwide markets.

An agreement for an investment of US $ 151,000 was signed with Nilmini Estates (Private) Limited. The investment is for a project to modernize the existing tea estate to produce organic tea in value added form for export.

Pix Software signed an agreement for a project to develop software. It is a joint venture between investors from Sri Lanka and USA for an investment of US $ 150,000. It will develop an online solution to manage media content on social networking tools.

An investment agreement worth US $ 300,000 was signed with Sthira Distribution (Private) Limited. The project is to set up an Export Trading House. The venture will be engaged in trading fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) such as Food Products and Personal Care Products to markets in US, Europe and Australia.

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Dhammika Perera, Chairman / Director General signed the agreements on behalf of the BOI and formally presented the BOI Certificate of Registration to the investors.
