Over 100 heavy vehicles join Northern development drive

 

Over one-hundred heavy vehicles worth Rs. 2,353 million were presented to the Sri Lanka Army to accelerate the development activities currently under way in the Northern Province.

The vehicles purchased from China, include 22 bulldozers, 37 motor graders, nine rollers, 14 excavators and 19 wheel loaders.

The new vehicles will be used mainly for road development and to repair irrigation systems in the North which had been ruined by the LTTE terrorists.

The development and resettlement programs in the North are the Government's highest priority, said Task Force Chief Basil Rajapaksa."Thus it is important to expedite the development activities taking place in the North," he added.
