Another 15
production villages to be established |

The
Ministry
of Rural
Industries
&
Self-Employment
Promotion
is to
establish
another
15
Production
villages
before
year
2010,
under
the "Uthuru
Vasanthaya"
Programme.
According
to
official
sources,
320
villages
have
already
been
developed
at a
cost of
Rs.475
million,
under
the
'production
villages'
project.
The aim
of this
project
is to
uplift
the
livelihood
in rural
areas
and to
develop
rural
industry
and
handicraft
industry.
Two
hundred
and
fifteen
production
villages
out of
320 have
been
vested
in the
people.
The
development
works of
another
36
villagers
have
completed
and
expected
to vest
in
public
shortly.
17,410
people
in the
North
are to
benefit
under
this
production
villages
project.
