The
National
Child
Protection
Authority
(NCPA)
will
launch
the
Child
Rights
Convention
(CRC) in
braille
for the
first
time in
Sri
Lankan
history
to mark
the
International
Children's
Day
falls on
October
1.
The
NCPA
will
also
launch
the CRC
in sign
language
for the
benefit
of deaf
children.
It will
be
launched
as a
video
which
shows
the
convention
in sign
language.
According
to
the statistics
of the NCPA,
blind
and deaf
children
are
mostly
subjected
to child
exploitation.
The CRC
which
will
come in
braille
mode and
in sign
language
will
educate
children
on child
exploitation,
what
they
should
do to
avoid
being
abused
and the
steps
that
should
be taken
when a
child
gets
abused,
said NCPA
Chairman
Prof.
Jagath
Wellawatta.
In
addition,
the NCPA
will
promote
CRC and
child
friendly
messages
among
children
through
exercise
books.
A
book on
Law
related
to child
adoption,
child
custody
etc.
will
also be
launched.
