Tank Farm Project begins at Hambantota Port

 

President Mahinda Rajapaksa layed foundation stones for the new Administrative Office and the Tank Farm Project in the premises of the Hambantota Port today (7).

The bunkering facility will comprise of 14 tanks. Eight tanks will be used to provide oil for ships while three will be used to store LP gas.

Rest of the tanks will be used to provide oil for aircrafts. Furthermore, the new Administrative Building will comprise 15 floors and the total floor area is 100,000sq ft.

Construction work of the Hambanthota Port is scheduled to be completed by the year 2011. The construction cost of the project is 360 million dollars. The Exim Bank of China will provide 85 percent of the allocation.
