ADB to help reconstruction in North

Asian Development Bank (ADB) expects to play an important role in infrastructure development in the North and East in addition to providing support to facilitate the resettlement and the restoration of livelihoods for the people in these areas. This was conveyed by ADB, Director General South Asia Department Kunio Senga during his visit to Sri Lanka on October 13 -15.

"With the end of the war, Sri Lanka now faces a huge task of reconstruction and development of the North and East; and the need to resettle the (IDPs) as soon as possible," reported the LBO quoting Senga.

Sri Lanka's 30-year war ended in May when government forces defeated the LTTE.
