Japan funds to uplift Dambana Hospital

 

The government of Japan provided Rs.9.2 million for the project for establishment of new maternity and dental units at the Dambana Hospital in Badulla District which is implemented by the Regional Director of Health Services Office, Badulla.

This Grant Contract was signed between Ambassador of Japan Mr. Kunio Takahashi, Dr. N.S.R. Hewageegana, and Provincial Director of Health Services, Uva, today (Oct. 21), at the Embassy of Japan in Colombo.

The Government of Japan provides funds to Non-Governmental Organizations and governmental agencies through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) to fulfill urgent needs of all the communities at grass-root level.

Presently, the Government of Japan focuses its GGP on livelihood improvement support for the people of conflict affected areas, humanitarian demining for early resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons, and uplifting lives of people in rural areas.
