Nation-building is everyone's duty - President

Everyone must contribute to nation-building irrespective of caste, ethnic and regional differences, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing a group of TNA Pradeshiya Sabha Chairmen and members, TELO members, SLMC and some UNP members who met him to express their support to the program of the UPFA Government.

The entire country is free of terrorism, not only the North and East. Therefore it is the duty of all to secure that freedom, he stressed.

"Today the Government's priority is development. To achieve this goal, the country needs the support of all Sri Lankans.

The Party representatives expressed their support to the Government's development program and pointed out that now there is a better understanding between ethnicities and the post-war reconciliation process is progressing satisfactorily.

"Over 80 percent of the people in the Eastern Province are grateful to the Government for the development process taking place in the province," said Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralidharan. The President's direct involvement has resulted in the expansion of development to the rural areas, he stressed.
