The
conditions
of the
relief
villages
where
the
Internally
Displaced
are
accommodated
are good
and
impressive,
and of a
much
higher
standard
than
expected,
said the
visiting
South
African
Foreign
Minister
Maite
Nkoana
Mashbane
after
meeting
with
President
Mahinda
Rajapaksa
this
morning
(12) at
President's
House.
South
African
Foreign
Minister
stressed
that her
country
has vast
experience
in
dealing
with the
post
conflict
situations
and they
are
ready to
share
their
experiences
with Sri
Lanka.
While
admiring
the
government
program
on IDPs
she said
that her
country
assures
the
fullest
support
to the
Government's
resettlement
and
reconstruction
efforts
in the
aftermath
of the
30 year
conflict.
President
Rajapaksa
briefed
South
African
Foreign
Minister,
on the
Government's
resettlement
programme
and
stated
that the
government
has
taken
action
to
improve
the
conditions
of the
welfare
villages.
South
African
Foreign
Minister
Mashbane
further
stated
that she
wished
to
explain
the
actual
situation
in Sri
Lanka to
her
Government
and the
Tamil
community
in South
Africa.
