TN assistance to improve facilities at welfare centers

The Tamil Nadu government yesterday decided to allocate 10 million rupees for improving facilities in the 115 welfare centers.

The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in Tamil Nadu, IANS reported.

The state government has allocated funds for repairs to dwellings and roads inside the centres and for extending the healthcare scheme to the refugees, provision of free colour television sets, marriage assistance to women, free bus passes, etc.

The decisions were taken on the basis of reports submitted by the Ministers who earlier visited these welfare centres to get first hand information on the living conditions prevailing there.
