Tourist arrivals increasing
|

Tourist
arrivals
have
recorded
a
further
seven
per cent
increase
last
month,
according
the
latest
statistics
from the
Tourism
sector.
It has
increased
from
month to
month
from May
this
year
after
LTTE
terrorism
were
completely
wiped
out.
The
figure
had an
increase
of over
2500
arrivals
compared
to the
corresponding
period
of the
previous
year.
The
growth
level in
September
this
year
stood at
28.6 per
cent and
the
figure
was
37,837,
a sharp
rise of
over
nine
thousand
over the
same
month in
2008.
The
total
number
of
arrivals
up to
October
this
year was
346,717
and more
is
expected
to
arrive
in Sri
Lanka
during
the
upcoming
festive
season.
As Sri
Lanka
enjoys
peace
and
rapid
development,
tourism
has
caught
up in an
unprecedented
manner.
