Presidential election first

 

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided to hold the Presidential election first.

Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunga speaking to Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) said that the President has the capability to call for a presidential election after completing four years in his regime.

He added that President Rajapaksa had signed the proclamation regarding this today. The gazette notification in this regard will be issued at a suitable time.

The President has declared this decision at a special meeting held at Temple Trees today (23). Leaders of United Peoples Freedom Alliance and the parties who are supporting the UPFA attended this meeting.
