|
|
|
The
French
authorities
commended
the Sri
Lankan
government's
move to
empty
the
welfare
centres
for
displaced
civilians
in the
North by
the end
of
January
2010.
"The
announcement
by the
Sri
Lankan
government
to free
without
delay
the last
displaced
persons
and to
definitively
close
the
camps in
January
2010 is
a
positive
development,"
reported
KUNA
quoting
a
statement
from
government
of
France.
"France
calls
for the
rapid
re-installation
of these
families
in their
initial
villages
in good
material
and
security
conditions."
The
statement
also
urged
the Sri
Lankan
authorities
to "open
a
constructive,
political
dialogue
with all
populations
on the
island"
and to
adopt a
"policy
of
reconciliation".
