Govt. to upgrade higher educational institutions

 

The Ministry of Higher Education has taken steps to upgrade all higher educational institutions in the country to build a highly literate society, under the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is paying urgent attention on university issues.

Under this directive, the Ministry has taken steps to construct a six storied clinical building with a gross floor area of 10989 sqm at a cost of Rs.673 million for the Faculty of Medical and Allied Sciences of the University of Rajarata.

Construction of this building is expected to be carried out by the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) on design and build (Measure and Pay) basis and to make payments on the rates approved by the Construction and Engineering Services.

This project will be completed to fulfill the academic requirements of the fourth year medical students of this Faculty. The University Grants Commission has allocated Rs.125m for this project considering it as a high priority.
