Sri Lanka Cricket will open the new World Cup venue, the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium today (Nov. 27).

The new stadium is one of the venues for the 2011 World Cup which can accommodate 30,000 spectators. A state-of-the-art facility for the players and the media is under construction.

A practice match between the visiting Pakistan under 19 team and the Sri Lanka Chairman’s XI will also be played while an official under 19 one day game will be played between Pakistan and Bangladesh on Sunday the 29th.
