Commonwealth
Summit
held at
Port of
Spain,
Trinidad
and
Tobago.
The
Prime
Minister
representing
President
Mahinda
Rajapaksa
further
talked
about
the
damages
caused
by
climate
change
and
referring
to the
Kyoto
summit
said, it
was
surprising
that
decisions
were not
implemented.
The
Commonwealth
Summit
is
attended
by
leaders
of 51
Commonwealth
countries
including
Queen
Elizabeth
II of
Britain
and
Prince
Phillip.
Prime
Minister
Ratnasiri
Wickramanayaka
held
bilateral
talks
with
Prime
Minister
of
Trinidad
and
Tobago
Patrick
Manning.
The Sri
Lankan
Premier
explained
that
after 30
years
there is
no
terrorist
threat
in Sri
Lanka
now and
the
country
is
experiencing
political
stability
with a
continuous
flow of
foreign
investment.
Prime
Minister
Manning
appreciated
this
current
situation
in the
country.
Prime
Minister
Ratnasiri
Wickramanayaka
met the
Australian
Prime
Minister,
Kevin
Rudd and
is
expected
to hold
bilateral
discussions
with
other
leaders
during
the
visit.
The aim
of this
Summit
is to
discuss
and
address
common
problems
faced by
Commonwealth
countries
relating
to
economy,
politics,
environment
and
climate
change.
