SL to get solar electricity generation system

Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority is to introduce a kind of clean energy by solar electricity generation system, under the supervision of the Ministry of Power and Energy.

The Government of Japan has agreed to provide a grant of Rs.1075 million to construct a 400 KW grid connected solar power generation plant at Baruthandanda, Hambantota, with a view to help the efforts taken by the Government of Sri Lanka to address the issue on climate change and to access the clean energy.

The establishment of this power plant is an attempt to change the perception of developers, lending agencies and equity investors on the performance, environmental impact and sustainability of commercial scale solar power generation by demonstration.
