In
association
with the
Ministry
of
Science
and
Technology,
Master
Divers (Pvt)
Ltd and
the
University
of
Moratuwa
have
developed
a bio
gas
cylinder
that
could be
used for
cooking
and to
run
three
wheelers.
The
new
product
has been
tested
and
proven
to be
sustainable,
economical
and
environmentally
friendly.
“The
company
will
launch
the
product
commercially
early
next
year,
said
Master
Divers
Chairman
Ariyaseela
Wickramanayake,
reported
Daily
News.
Bio
gas is
produced
at the
Pelwatta
Sugar
Company
using
sugarcane
waste
and
waste
water
and
filled
into
normal
gas
cylinders
for
three
wheelers,
he
added.
The
cost
will be
one-tenth
of the
normal
cost and
the
country
can save
much
foreign
exchange
spent on
imported
fuel if
a large
quantity
is
manufactured
to
fulfill
the
national
requirement,
the
Chairman
further
said.
The
Pelwatta
Sugar
Company
produces
350,000
liters
of
spread
wash
daily
and a
large
quantity
of bio
gas can
be
manufactured
easily.
There
are many
advantages
for the
country
and
people
from
this
project
because
it will
not only
ease
garbage
management
but is
also
economical
and will
not burn
fossil

therefore
it is
not
harmful
to the
environment,
the
