SL to build
largest fishery harbour |

The
Ministry
of
Fisheries
and
Aquatic
Resources
has
taken
steps to
construct
a
landing
site to
accommodate
displaced
outboard
engine
fishing
boats at
the new
fisheries
harbour
at
Dickowita
which is
under
construction.
This
will be
the
largest
fishery
harbour
in Sri
Lanka
with
sophisticated
facilities.
The
expenditure
for this
construction
has been
estimated
at Euro
53
million,
of which
38% will
be a
grant
supplied
by the
Royal
Netherlands
Government
and Euro
33.748
million
from the
balance
provided
as a
loan
from the
Hongkong
and
Shanghai
Banking
Corporation
(HSBC).
The
local
fund
requirement
is euro
8
million.
The
construction
of this
project
commenced
in
February
2009 and
will be
completed
within
two
years.
