Security relaxed around schools in Jaffna

The government has initiated measures to relax security zones that existed around schools in the Jaffna peninsula to provide a free environment for students.

According to Government Information Department, the security zone that existed around the Hartley College and the Methodist Girls' School, Point Pedro has been shifted to another location.

These two are leading schools in the Point Pedro area where a large number of male and female students are enrolled.

The security zone had been shifted towards the Point Pedro jetty area, away from the busy administrative location that covered these schools, court and the urban council.

Now the students and the public do not need to go through security checkpoints as before.
