Free hotline to inform of child abuse

A new hotline has been introduced by the Ministry of Child Development and Women's Affairs to safeguard children form child abuse.

It can be useful to inform the child protection authorities of any kind of child abuse including physical, psychological or sexual ill-treatment of children. The free hotline is ‘1929’ and children undergoing any sort of maltreatment from parents or any other party can reach the authorities through this hotline.

In addition, the children could seek counselling services and forward other matters to the officials through this hotline, which will guide the children to face society with self confidence.

The Ministry is seeking the assistance and cooperation of several institutions including the National Child Protection Authority and the Ministry of Education in continuing this process.
