More travelers use A-9 road

A total of 30,142 persons in 2,215 vehicles have traveled to Jaffna though the A-9 road since 24-27 December.

Following the opening of the A-9 road for public traffic, the number of vehicles traveling through the road is increasing on a daily basis, Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

The government lifted all restrictions for travel on A-9 road to and from Jaffna on December 21 and now civilians can travel to and from Vavuniya and Jaffna between 7 am to 6 pm without clearance from the Ministry of Defence.
