Three
digital
banners
in
Chennai,
India
carrying
pictures
of slain
LTTE
leader
Prabhakaran
were
removed
by
Chennai
authorities
on
Saturday.
The
pictures
showed
the LTTE
leader
interacting
with
Viduthalai
Chiruthaigal
Katchi
party’s
General
Secretary,
Thol
Tirumavalavan,
reports
India’s
Express
Buzz.
The
banners
were
removed
after
representatives
of the
Makkal
Thalaivar
Ayya, G
K
Moopanar
Peravai
urged
Commissioner
of
Police
to take
action
against
them.
The
vinyl
boards
were
erected
by the
Viduthalai
Chiruthaigal
Katchi
in
different
parts of
the city
ahead of
a book
release
function
in which
poems
penned
by
Tirumavalavan
are
slated
for
release,
Express
Buzz
further
reports.
According
to L K
Venkat,
President
of the
Peravai,
the
controversial
banners
were put
up near
Ashok
Nagar
police
station,
Kodambakkam
Power
House
and
Valluvar
Kottam.
Demanding
stern
action
against
those
responsible
for
erecting
the
banners,
he
stated
in his
police
complaint
that
Prabhakaran
was the
leader
of LTTE,
a banned
organization
in
India.
He also
sought a
ban on
the book
release
function.
Venkat
said the
police
removed
the
banners
in a
couple
of hours
after
the
issue
was
taken up
with the
Police
Chief,
stated
the
Express
Buzz.
