The Government has allocated Rs.6, 000 million for this year to grant these salary increases for 220,000 teachers. The relevant amended circular 6/2006 (8), have already been issued, the report added.

A Grade 1 teacher will receive a total salary increase of Rs.3, 330 under the amended circular. The due arrears will be paid from July 1, 2008. Zonal authorities will take steps soon to pay the increased salaries. The increase is also applicable to Principals, the report further said.
